Are we losing our jobs to AI???
Are software positions in danger? What are your thoughts on Devin AI?
This past week sparked conversations about AI’s potential to disrupt software engineering jobs. Notably, the introduction of Devin AI, capable of writing code based on prompts and identifying and solving bugs, has stirred apprehension within the tech community.

Here’s what I think…
It is absolutely incredible the advancements we have witnessed in AI over the last decade. I can only imagine the further improvements and innovations in the coming years.
Yet, the reaction of companies to these advancements remains uncertain. At the moment, it seems improbable that these companies would readily substitute their developers for third-party AI solutions because of the significant risks to security and intellectual property.
However, it is apparent that the industry is beginning to consider the benefits of developing their own large language models. This could not only change the responsibilities of current engineers but, over time, replace some roles.
As engineers, we should not view this AI evolution as entirely doom and gloom. Adapting to and evolving with new technologies is an inherent part of our job. It’s clear that the demand for software engineers will persist and our roles may increasingly intersect with AI technologies. Looking ahead, it may be a good idea to strengthen your AI skills and stay on top of the market.
